With OPTA2000, the new HP Integrity NonStop Bladesystem Server now supports multiple Time Zones.
A HP Integrity Nonstop Server with OPTA2000 can now support multiple Time-Zone application groups, where each application group executes within a distinct Time-Zone. One application group can execute in Time-Zone(GMT-05:00), while another application group can execute in Time-Zone(GMT+01:00), and yet another application group can execute in Time-Zone(GMT-08:00), all on one HP Integrity Nonstop Server.
Additionally, OPTA2000 supports CURRENT Time simulation for Nonstop applications. The OPTA2000 Tandem Clock Simulator ( not just for Y2K testing), is capable of returning simulated System CURRENT TIME values to multiple applications simultaneously, without changing the single HP Nonstop Server System Clock. OPTA2000 supports multiple Test, Development and Quality Control environments, each with different System CURRENT TIME requirements, on a single HP Nonstop Server. OPTA2000 does NOT require any changes to the applications, supports all Tandem application program types(Native - file code 700, Native-Itanium - file code 800, TNS - file code 100 and Nonstop SQL), and supports all programming languages (Scobol, Cobol, Cobol85, C, TAL, pTAL, TACL, Java, etc.).
How is OPTA2000 being used?
Time Zone Simulation allows System Consolidation.
>> Consolidate multiple applications from multiple Nonstop servers onto a single HP Integrity Nonstop Server. Execute multiple applications, each within their respective simulated Time Zone, on a single Disaster Recovery, Business Resumption or Production Nonstop Server.
>> Multiple Time Zone sensitive applications can be tested on a single Test system.
CURRENT Time Simulation( on a single system without changing System Clock )
>> Time-sensitive application(month-end, year-end, interest accrual, fee assessment, payment processing, inventory and receivables aging) testing can be done on a single system, without changing the System clock and without disrupting other TEST, DEV or QC environments.
>> Allow multiple environments(Test, Development, Quality Control) with different CURRENT time(System Clock) requirements, to co-exist on a single Nonstop system.
